Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting 11-inning contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined over 50 million spectators across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a 16% increase over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game was 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million viewers, an 8% rise over last year and the network’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 various languages.
